History

The 08 series was the last train developed by Teito Rapid Transit Authority (also known as Eidan). Six ten-carriage units were introduced to Hanzomon Line when the Line was extended from Suitengumae to Oshiage and through-services towards Tobu lines started. The 08 series is based on 05N series on Tozai Line, though the 08 series can run at faster speed than any other TRTA trains (maximum speed: 110 km/h or 68 mph).

However, bogies of the 08 series are different from those of the 05 series, as TRTA decided to make them safer and sturdy as they experienced a major accident on Hibiya Line in 2000.

Current Operations & Future Prospects

The 08 series is used on Hanzomon Line including through-services towards Tokyu Den-en-toshi Line and Tobu Nikko and Isesaki Lines, along with other trains like 8000 series and 18000 series.
