History

The 08 series was the last train developed by Teito Rapid Transit Authority (also known as Eidan). Six ten-carriage units were introduced to the Hanzomon Line when it was extended from Suitengumae to Oshiage and through-services towards the Tobu lines started. The 08 series is based on 05N series on the Tozai Line, though the 08 series can run faster than any other TRTA trains (maximum speed: 110 km/h or 68 mph).

However, bogies of the 08 series are different from those of the 05 series, as TRTA decided to make them safer and sturdier after a major accident on the Hibiya Line in 2000.

Current Operations & Future Prospects

The 08 series is used on the Hanzomon Line including through-services towards the Tokyu Den-en-tosh, Tobu Nikko and Isesaki Lines, along with 18000 series.
