Keio 9000 series

History

The 9000 series was introduced to the Keio lines and through-services towards the Toei Shinjuku Line, replacing 6000 series. The front end of 9000 series is based on that of 8000 series, but traction and other equipment are different. An eight-carriage unit of the 9000 series can couple with a two-car unit of 7000 series.

Current Operations & Future Prospects

They are used on the entire Keio network except small branch lines and the Inokashira Line. They are also used for through-services towards the Toei Shinjuku Line.
