History
The 8000 series was introduced to increase capacity and replace old trains. Everything is completely different from its predecessors, 6000 series and 7000 series. Each unit consists of eight or ten coaches today, and Keio used the series mainly for limited express services at first, but now they have been used for stopping and other services as well since 2001.
In 2015, a ten-car unit was repainted green, which resembles 2000 series (in service: 1957-84).
Current Operations & Future Prospects
The 8000 series is used on the entire Keio network except small branch lines and Inokashira Line.
