History
The 7000 series trains were introduced by Teito Rapid Transit Authority (also known as Eidan, now Tokyo Metro) when Yurakucho Line was opened. It was based on 6000 series of Chiyoda Line, but their front ends were slightly different. The 7000 series initially had yellow bands in accordance with the colour of Yurakucho Line on the map. Each unit was formed of five coaches at first, but later became ten.
From 2007, some units were converted to be compatible with Fukutoshin Line which opened in 2008, and the bands of the train were changed to brown. However, several trainsets were scrapped by 2010, and some of them were exported to Indonesia. Many remaining trainsets were shortened to eight coaches.
The 7000 series had been used not only on Fukutoshin and Yurakucho Lines, but also Seibu Ikebukuro, Tobu Tojo, Tokyu Toyoko and Minatomirai Lines. All units were replaced with 17000 series by 2022.
