History
The 15000 series was introduced to Tozai Line to replace some 05 series and ease congestion at peak times. Like some other Tozai Line trains, the 15000 series has wider doors than ordinary commuter trains, to allow smooth boarding and alightening. It is also based on 10000 series for Fukutoshin and Yurakucho Lines, though accommodation of the 15000 series looks slightly cheaper than that of the 10000 series.
Current Operations & Future Prospects
The 15000 series trains run Tozai Line including through-services towards JR Chuo, Sobu and Toyo Rapid Lines. As they have larger doors to ease congestion, they are mainly used for eastbound trains in the morning. They are also used for services at off-peak times.
