History

The 70000 series was introduced to through-services to Tokyo Metro Hibiya Line, replacing 20000 series. Bogies, motors and traction are the same as those of Tokyo Metro 13000 series, but the front end and accommodation are different. There are 24 seven-carriage units in total, but six of them are 70090 subseries, with convertible seating (longitudinal to transverse and vice versa).

Current Operations & Future Prospects

The 70000 series trains are used on stopping services on Tobu Nikko, Isesaki Lines and through-services to Hibiya Line (i.e. Minami-kurihashi - Naka-meguro). The 70090 series are used on TH Liner (Ebisu - Kuki), all-reserved-seat services for commuters, and on other stopping services at off-peak times.
