History
The 8900 series was introduced to replace all 7000 series. It is based on 8800 series, but the exterior design is different. There are four liveries: Orange, Blue, Rose Pink and Yellow. Unlike the 8800 series, two 8900 series cars are allocated to each colour.
Tokyo Metropolitan Bureau of Transportation's plan was introducing sixteen 8900 series, but the Bureau changed the mind as reusing old stock could save money. Thus, only eight cars were delivered in total, and 7700 series was introduced instead.

Eight 8900 series are in service.
