History

The 2000 series trains were introduced to Marunouchi Line, replacing 02 series. The 2000 series is compatible with new signalling system and higher voltage of electricity, both of which are scheduled to be in use in the mid-2020s. Unlike the predecessor, all 2000 series units are formed of six coaches.

The sine-wave pattern, which was painted on the first rolling stock for the Line (300 series and relevant types, operational in 1953-96), can be found above doors and windows. The vivid red livery is mostly consisted of vinyl wrap, but a round-shaped front end has been painted.

Current Operations & Future Prospects

The 2000 series is used on the entire Marunouchi Line as described above.
