History
The 60000 series was developed only for the Noda Line, to replace 8000 series. Until the introduction of the 60000 series, the Noda Line had been served by trains that were reallocated from other lines. Hence, the 60000 series was praised as the first brand new train on the Noda Line in 70 years. 18 six-carriage units are in service at present.
Due to a drop in demand triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic, Tobu has decided to earrange all trainsets from six coaches to five. Redundant intermediate coaches will be converted and inserted to 80000 series.
Current Operations & Future Prospects
The 60000 series trains are used only on the Noda Line. All units will be formed of five coaches by 2029.
