History

Tobu 300 series was reintroduced in 1991 after being remodelled from 1800 series. The 300 series reentered express services, and they were raised to limited express in 2006 without any major refurbishment. They had lower-grade facilities compared to other limited express trains: literally bumpy when running, seating was transverse but not reclining, and lavatories were notorious squat toilets. Since the series were incapable of offering "satisfactory services", Tobu set limited express fares cheaper than other trains. They could run as Kegon and Kinu limited express services instead of 100 series SPACIA, but only when there was absolutely no other choice to do so.

Two six-carriage units (300 series) and three four-car units (350 series) were reallocated to Kirifuri services (Asakusa - Tobu-nikko). They were also used for Limited Express Shimotsuke (Asakusa - Tobu-utsunomiya), Yunosato (Asakusa - Shin-fujiwara), Oze Night Express and Snowpal (Asakusa - Aizukogen-ozeguchi). The last three trains ran during peak seasons, and Oze Night Express and Snowpal were night trains. These services were discontinued or replaced with 500 series Revaty by 2022.
