History
The 70000 series GSE is the newest Romancecar train, which replaced 37-year-old 7000 series LSE. There are important improvements, such as computer-controlled bogies to significantly reduce vibrations and safer bodies that can minimise the impact of severe train crash.
Two seven-units were introduced, and they are used along other Romancecar trains, but not on through-services to Tokyo Metro Chiyoda Line.
Current Operations & Future Prospects
The GSE trains are used on Limited Express services, mainly between Shinjuku and Hakone-Yumoto. They are marked as "train with observation carriage", just like 50000 series VSE.
