History
The 3700 series was introduced when Narita Airport Terminal 1 and 2, 3 stations were opened. There are eight and six-carriage units, and the eight-car units are used on through-services towards Toei Asakusa and Keikyu lines as well as Hokuso Railway. The six-car units were also used on the through-services to Asakusa Line until 2014.
Hokuso Railway also introduced the same trains called 7300 series. In addition, Keisei has been leasing three eight-car units to Hokuso Railway (which are now called 7800 series) and another eight-car unit to Chiba New Town Railway (which is now called 9800 series). The 7300 and 7800 series are effectively the same in these days.
Those introduced in 2000-02 have a different front end, which looks like 3000 series.
Current Operations & Future Prospects
The 3700 series are still widely used for Keisei Main and Oshiage Lines including the through-services. They are used on Narita Sky Access Line as Access Express when there is a lack of available train, but it is extremely rare in these days. Those leased to Hokuso Railway and Chiba New Town Railway are mainly used on through-services on Keikyu, Toei Asakusa, Keisei and Hokuso Lines.
Traction equipment has been replaced with new one since 2024, meaning that many units are likely to be operational for ten more years.
