History

The 3000 series is the most common type on Keisei network, as 326 carriages in total were introduced to replace 3200 series (in service: 1964-2007), 3300 series and 3500 series. The front end design is based on 3700 series (those introduced after 2000), but the 3000 series is less costly, more eco-friendly and accessible than other trains. Keisei's subsidiary and group companies (Shin-Keisei, Hokuso and Chiba New Town Railway) also introduced trains that are almost identical to the 3000 series.

In addition, there is a subclass called 3050 series, which was initially developed for Narita Sky Access Line. Six eight-carriage units were delivered in 2009-10, and they had different design with aeroplane patterns. They were painted blue at first and repainted orange in 2019, but all of them were superseded by 3100 series and reallocated to Keisei Main Line in 2019-23.

Current Operations & Future Prospects

There are six-car and eight-car units. They are used on the entire Keisei network except Kanamachi Line, where only trains with four coaches can enter. Eight-car units are also used for through-services to Keikyu, Toei Asakusa and Hokuso Lines.

The 3050 series units look the same as other 3000 series trains, but their seat moquette is slightly different.
