Keio 2000 series

History

The 2000 series is the latest rolling stock for the Keio network excluding the Inokashira Line. According to the company, they conducted surveys, analysed their results using artificial intelligence and designed this train. Each trainset is formed of 10 coaches, and unlike 5000 series, all seats are longitudinal. Part of coach no. 5 is called the "Hidamari space" (hidamari means a warm spot with plenty of sunlight), a designated area for wheelchair and pram users. Windows there are wider and lower than usual, allowing infants to look outside.

The first unit entered into service in January 2026, and three more units are due to be delivered by March 2027.

Current Operations & Future Prospects

The 2000 series trains can run the entire Keio lines except the Inokashira and Dobutuen Lines. It is not compatible with the Toei Shinjuku Line, so they mostly run between Shinjuku and Keio-hachioji, Takaosanguchi or Hashimoto.
