History
The 2000 series was introduced in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of Hakone Tozan Railway. It is almost the same as 1000 series Bernina, but the 2000 series has air-conditioning since the introduction. Each unit consisted of two coaches at first, but became three in 1993.
They were initially painted pink with white stripes like Odakyu 10000 series HiSE, but the third unit was repainted to Glacier Express livery in 2009. The other two have been painted red since 2015. Intermediate carriages of the first and second units were removed and inserted to the 1000 series.
Current Operations & Future Prospects
There are two two-carriage units and a three-car unit. Two-car units often form three coaches with 3000 series Allegra.
