History
The 10000 series was introduced when Line 4, commonly known as Green Line, was opened. Each carriage is smaller than ordinary train to reduce costs of construction. Each unit was intially formed of four coaches, but Yokohama City Transportation Bureau plans to insert two intermediate carriages to most of the units due to increase in demand.
Current Operations & Future Prospects
The 10000 series is used on Green Line. 20 intermediate carriages are due to be delivered in financial years 2022-24, and 10 out of 17 units will be formed of six coaches by then.

One of them has been repainted like a Yokohama City Tram (closed in 1972) in commemoration of the 10th anniversary of Green Line.
