History
The 6000 series was introduced to Express services on Oimachi Line when upgrade engineering work of the Line was completed in 2008. The 6000 series trains are mostly based on 5000 series (variant 5080), but the 6000s look different from the 5000s. Six six-carriage units were delivered in 2008.
Due to increase in demand, Tokyu decided to make all Express services on the Line to seven coaches. Intermediate carriages were added to all units in 2017-18. In 2019, the company launched "Q Seat" service (seat reservation scheme for those with an extra ticket), and designated coaches were inserted to two out of six units. Two redundant coaches were converted to 5000 series (5080) in 2021.
Current Operations & Future Prospects
The 6000 series is used for Express services on Oimachi and Den-en-toshi Lines between Oimachi and Mizonokuchi or Nagatsuta.
