Tokyu 3000 series

History

The 3000 series was designed for though-services towards Tokyo Metro Namboku and Toei Mita Lines. At present, all units are formed of six coaches, but the first unit was formed of eight and used on Toyoko Line in 1999-2000. When Mekama Line was rearranged to Meguro and Tokyu Tamagawa Lines in 2000, the 3000 series entered the through-services on the two underground lines. The 3000 series trains have also been running Saitama Railway since the following year.

In 2021, surprisingly, intermediate carriages were delivered in preparation of through-services towards Sotetsu lines. All units are now formed of eight coaches and they have been also used for through-services to Sotetsu lines since 2023.

Current Operations & Future Prospects

The 3000 series run Meguro and Shin-Yokohama Lines as well as through-services to Sotetsu, Tokyo Metro Namboku, Toei Mita Lines and Saitama Railway.
