Number built: 222
Registered: 144

History

The 6300 series was introduced to Mita Line to replace 6000 series (in service: 1968-99). The 6300 series was developed to provide better service with air-conditioning, as well as to reduce costs with more environmentally-friendly features.

37 six-carriage units were introduced in total, and they are compatible with driver-only operation on underground. In addition, they are designed for through-services towards Tokyu Meguro Line. They have also been used for through-services to Tokyu Shin-Yokohama Line since March 2023. However, unlike other trains of Toei Mita Line and relevant through-services, no 6300 series has been rearranged to be formed of eight coaches.

Current Operations & Future Prospects

The 6300 series are used on Toei Mita Line as well as Tokyu Meguro Line. Those introduced in 1999-2000 (24 units) are used for through-services to Tokyu Shin-Yokohama Line. The Bureau initially planned to convert them to be compatible with Sotetsu line facilities, but later changed its mind.

The other 13 units built in 1993-94 were withdrawn by 2023.
