History

The 001 series Laview is a part of Hitachi A-Train, but apparently very unique. According to Seibu, L stemmed from "Luxirous" and "Living", a means "arrow" and view literally means view. Seven eight-carriage units were introduced to replace 10000 series New Red Arrow.

Each front coach has a front-end gangway, meaning that the Laview is compatible with underground train regulations. The entire body is painted metallic silver though looks unpainted. Headlights and taillights can be semicircle as if the train is smiling. Each unit of Laview is named from A to G, not numbers.

Current Operations & Future Prospects

Laview trains are used on Limited Express Chichibu (Ikebukuro - Seibu-Chichibu) and Musashi (Ikebukuro - Hannō). There is no regular service on other lines of Seibu, nor through-services towards Tokyo Metro lines.

Seibu still uses the New Red Arrow on Shinjuku Line, but the Laview is unlikely to be delivered more to replace the old trains.
