History
The 5000 series (II) is the latest commuter train type entered service in 2020. Its front end design looks like a train in rural areas built in the early-1990s, but its traction and computer-controlled system are truly the newest. Each unit consists of ten coaches, replacing 1000 series and 8000 series.
Current Operations & Future Prospects
The 5000 series is used on the entire line but not for through-service to the Tokyo Metro Chiyoda Line.
Odakyu plans to introduce eight-car units later in financial year 2026.
