Odakyu 2000 series

History

The 2000 series is a commuter train type, introduced to stopping services to and from Shinjuku. It looks like almost identical to 1000 series, but traction and braking systems are completely different. Doors of the 2000 series are slightly wider than other commuter trains, but not as large as some 1000 series units.

All units consist of eight coaches, and always used independently (i.e. never join to other train).

Current Operations & Future Prospects

The 2000 series are mostly used for stopping services on the Odawara Line (Shinjuku - Hon-Atsugi) and the Tama Line. Due to short platforms, they are not used on the Enoshima Line and the Odawara Line beyond Shin-Matsuda.
