History
The 3000 series is a dual-voltage train with five six-carriage units in total. Unlike its predecessors, all seats of the 3000 series are longitudinal, as Metropolitan Intercity Railway had to ease congestion on Tsukuba Express.
Current Operations & Future Prospects
The 3000 series is used on the entire line along with 2000 series. MIR plans to make some trains formed of eight coaches in the early-2030s to further ease congestion, and the 2000 series units will be rearranged by then.
