History
30000 series was initially called New Vista Car, which was soon renamed Vista Car III. As the name suggested, it is the third "Vista Car" in Kintetsu history, a trademark of Kintetsu's limited express train with double-decker carriage. The 30000 series was developed to invite more tourists going to Ise area while replacing older "Vista Car" trains.
The 30000 series was based on 12200 series New Snack Car so that their front ends look similar. Each unit is formed of four coaches, and the second and third coaches are two-storied. Refurbishment took place in 1996-2000, not only rennovating accommodation but also replacing traction with new one. The 30000 series has been called Vista EX since then.
Current Operations & Future Prospects
The 30000 series has been used since the very beginning for various limited express services including those between Nagoya or Osaka-Namba and Kashikojima, Kyoto or Osaka-Namba and Nara or Kashiharajingu-mae.
