History
The Keio 1000 series is a type of five-carriage commuter train for the Inokashira Line. Each coach is 20 m (65.6 ft) long, a little larger than its predecessor 3000 series. The 1000 series units can be classified to two groups: those introduced in 1995-2004 and 2008-10, and they look different.
There are seven liveries just like the 3000 series. They are called Blue Green, Ivory White, Salmon Pink, Light Green, Violet, Orange Beige and Light Blue, respectively. Four units are allocated to each colour. Two units were initially painted beige, but Keio repainted them Orange Beige, to make them more vivid. The last unit of the series, which was previously painted Blue Green, were repainted white with rainbow stripes in 2016.
Current Operations & Future Prospects
All units are used on the Inokashira Line. They cannot run the other Keio lines (the main line network) as the track gauge is different. The company has gradually been making the 1000 series be compatible with automatic operation since 2025.
