History
The 5000 series was the last "brand new" train (not second-handed) that Fujikyu owned so far. Its design was based on JNR 115 series, though each carriage had two sets of doors instead of three, and had different traction and motors. Only one two-carriage units was introduced, and it was initially painted dark blue and pale blue with white stropes, but later repainted again and again. After 2007, both its exterior and accommodation had been full of Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends characters, to attract children. The 5000 series had been used for stopping services until 2019.
