History

*Do not be confused with old 500 series, which was in service in 1956-2003.

The 500 series was introduced to replace some 300 series. The 500 series is the first train for Enoden with inverter-controlled traction, automatic announcement system with English and displays above doors. However, to reduce costs, their bogies were reused from those of the 300 series.

Current Operations & Future Prospects

Two units of the 500 series have been used on the entire line, mostly with other types.
